Therapy dog visits provide immense benefits to the general patient population and hospital staff in hospitals. For patients, these visits can reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness, which is especially helpful for patients undergoing long-term treatments.

For example, a therapy dog can bring comfort to a child recovering from surgery, making the hospital environment less intimidating. Similarly, elderly patients may experience a boost in morale and motivation, particularly those in rehabilitation. Patients in oncology wards can find solace and distraction from pain during chemotherapy sessions. Moreover, therapy dogs can aid in physical rehabilitation by encouraging gentle activities like walking.

For hospital staff, therapy dogs offer a welcome break from stressful shifts, boosting morale and providing emotional support. The presence of a friendly dog can help reduce burnout, foster a positive work environment, and encourage staff interaction. Overall, therapy dog visits create a more positive, healing atmosphere for both patients and staff.
